Tilikum Facility Upper Level

The Oregon classes are held at Tilikum Retreat, just a few miles outside of Newburg in a rural country setting .  The days are usually warm, the nights are dark (so the stars come out in full force) and with no TV or radios, one tends to disconnect with the outside world and focus on music and the new friends they meet in class.  With a lake on the property, it's a very relaxing environment and quite a change for most city folk.

There are both private and shared rooms available at the facility and three meals a day are served family style in the dining room.  I've found the accommodations to be quite comfortable and the meals are always good.  The facility staff tries hard to please and are always quite cheerful and pleasant.  Although they don't offer a formal transportation service, they can usually find a way to get people to and from the airport if one is flying in.

Over the course of the next few days, everyone attended two classes per day.  Most of the classes were held indoors...

We all know that Noel plays and teaches Anglo concertina so...

What's an English Player doing here?

Hal attended Noel's 2004 Oregon class too and holds his own against the Anglo players.  Noel doesn't teach English playing techniques but he does offer considerable insight with regard to playing Irish tunes with the proper sound and suitable ornamentation.

Dinner at last after a day of music.  Everyone has stories to tell and lots of willing ears are present.
